Curriculum
Our approach to education is both interdisciplinary and hands-on. We foster growth in core academics through nature and art – to strengthen skills, memory, and meaning.
But we do more than that! We open wide the gates of
creativity
communication
critical thinking
independence
confidence
resilience.

We are committed to educating the whole child – intellectual, physical, social, emotional. We acknowledge that each child reaches certain milestones in their own time. Therefore, our emergent and child-centered curriculum prepares our learners for the future with a foundation for independence and life-long learning.

Our guiding principles are inspired by:
Montessori - for independence, structure, academic readiness
Reggio Emilia - for creativity, collaboration, child-led projects
Waldorf - for imagination, rhythm, strong connection to nature

Practical Life
Practical life activities help young learners to navigate the physical and social world they are entering. Activities include learning the social norms of a group, planning work, and managing short-term projects. Work of the hand, focusing on art and function, is embedded throughout all activities.

Mathematics
The focus in mathematics is on mathematical concepts, number theory, and computation. We use manipulative materials that engage the intellect and provide tactile learning. And we find practical applications for our learning so math is not purely academic but purely useful and . . . FUN!

Humanities: Language Arts
and Culture
Language is embedded into all areas of the curriculum and includes literature, reading fluency, writing, and oral expression. Our project-based study of the Social Sciences brings history and other aspects of culture to life and is a centerpiece of our Humanities program.

Environmental
Education and Core Sciences
Our learners explore their environment through a scientific approach – with hands-on demonstrations and experiments. They develop skills in independence and collaborative learning while building a meaningful connection with the natural world. This carries forward to a rich and balanced immersion in the other sciences.
